One of my hobbies, besides reading, is knitting. I started knitting around the same time friends of mine started having babies. I first learned how to crochet, and it was really fun. Then I realized that I really like how the knit stitches looked, and purposed to learn how to do that. I think I've been crocheting and knitting since 2005, but like all hobbies of mine I tend to do so when there is time or a purpose.
I'm thrilled that I now have the ability and opportunity to knit for my baby boy. (I hope you all caught the last update! Otherwise I just completely spoiled it for you!) I've been wanting to make him his first baby blanket, but I know that such a big project will have to wait a little while to be started.
I've started his newborn hat:
I plan to have him wear it when he comes home in December. (Aw, my heart just melted a little bit right there.)
I also finished some pretty darn cute (if I may so myself) baby socks.
They were my first socks ever, and I'm really glad I started with baby sock. I was able to learn the basics of making socks pretty quickly. I may just meet my goal and make a family set of Christmas stockings. (Who knows, though, I'm so slow when it comes to finishing a project.)
